When having one of my bad days I think of that quote. It's was a random statement in a comicbook of all things. If you check my post history I would be considered a doomer about the climate only but I'm trying to not be.

if we continue to switch to renewables we will soften the hard edge of climate change and it can be enough for humans to adapt. i think there's a good chance we can watch it unfold while growing old and a lot will change, but it can be okay and humans won't suddenly go extinct or live in mad max conditions.

it's more likely humans will be forced to live most of their life in protective structures and nature will adapt with new species genetically suited for the new climatic conditions. weird plants and crazy animals.

To what we know, with carbon syphoning technologies being developed, we may at some point be able to control the carbon cycle and even cool/heat the planet at will.

trees aren't sentient, they don't know what fire is, trees are stationary, the trees don't have a choice

Not necessarily, it depends whether those trees are connected to the same fungal network. The fungal network can alert the trees signaling them to pull nutrients back into the roots, or whatever other fire measures the plant might have.

Besides, by continuing to grow they’ll add more fuel for the fire
