Players manage to stop the cicada from fully emerging and splitting the world in two midway through the process. They petrify the cicada into solid stone. Now a continent sized cicada head island has breached the oceans and at it's tallest point is among the highest mountians in the world... players move on and it is never mentioned again.

Where have I seen this before?

It's actually going to be a huge part of the next movie coming out.

Like 12 movies and TV shows chronologically after this event later....

One of my players is a huge bug nerd and by extension so is their character. I’m saving this idea for later.

You know, I've never played Chronotrigger. Well within my time and what have you but just somehow passed me by. I say this so you can really understand just how hard it hit when I heard that song. I've heard it in so much shit and always wondering where the hell it came from because people kept reacting so strongly. Now I've got an answer after like 15 years lmao thank you so much!

You should play it.

Coming from the perspective of 2025, it definitely has a few rough edges that were limitations of its time. But I still maintain that the SNES version of Chrono Trigger was the high water mark for console RPG's and there's a good argument that it remains so do this day.
