It's funny because I started this thinking I'd stick a pin in this in case 196 doesn't self correct. I was like 98% sure that was going to happen and we'd end up with two or three lost people leaving confused posts here. Then a bunch of people gave old 196 the middle finger. Now less than 24 hours later, we're doing the internet equivalent of picking out furniture and drapes for the new home.

I'm happy to peacefully coexist, I don't want to start any silly crusades. I'd imagine we'll just end up splitting participation some. We can remain as a safe and sane "letter 196" backup for "number 196".

Here on Lemmy, it's mostly become a place to share memes, and because this is on the instance lemmy.blahaj.zone, it's cultivated a largely LGBT-positive identity with a focus on the trans community.
You'll find that most posts are titled with "rule" in the name. It's not really necessary, but it's become a staple of what makes a 196 post a 196 post.

I think this works better as an instance icon. There's nothing in this that suggests "196" in any way, unless there's some kind of reference I'm missing.
That's a totally valid critique. I'm honestly not sure what makes a 196 icon a 196 icon- the other communities just used Saturn. I figured expressing the lemmy.blahaj.zone part in the logo would distinguish this one as the "real" 196.
That's a pretty good point, actually - we definitely need an easy way to differentiate the subs visually.

Cool idea. I would suggest centering the rings inside the frame and maybe vectorizing the blรฅhaj to make it look better as an icon.
Those are some awesome ideas, unfortunately I've not got the knowhow to vectorize stuff. Maybe somebody with more skill could take this idea and execute it with better design, I think Blรฅjh with trans rings would really set us apart well from the other 196s
