Translation for the text in the image:

I work everyday just for a few stinking dollars to the point my heart is fucking shutting down

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 days ago

Saved bc it hits.

Being a wage slave is universal.

The floodgates between Chinese and Western meme cultures are now open. It will be glorious.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Old news, predictably China is already adjusting the algorithms to keep the foreign users away from the feeds of the locals. They don't want westerners causing ripples in the water.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 days ago

Quick! Open the floodgates faster!

Old news

Literally not old news. Three days “old” at max.

keep the foreign users away from the feeds of the locals

Without a citation I am gonna call this a lie. I am seeing plenty of intermixing of feeds and communications going back and forth using translation tools. People are hanging out just by posting pics of their cat them communicating in emojis and gifs. I see no evidence of what you are saying.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Source is some other lemmy post about the subject, it had some translated pictures as well. I don't have a link at hand though so feel free to look around for it yourself or just disregard.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Cool thanks for asserting something far fetched with your evidence being “I saw a Lemmy post about it.” Top par comment right there. :P

Enjoy the rest of your day

It is far fetched to you that China keeps up its internet segregation?

Each of their popular apps and services has a Chinese and a western version, specifically to ensure the government can maintain control over the domestic narrative.

I dont think even the most zealous tankies would contest that China routinely practices censorship to control the flow of information.

[–] Filthmontane 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

China wants to keep Western propaganda away from their people because it's capitalist swill. It's within their best interest to open up Chinese propaganda to Western audiences though. It's all about home field advantage.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Hence the wording of keeping the westerners away from the local feeds, not necessarily vice versa. Though the whole point is that the interesting new mixing of cultures stops either way, sadly.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Except I'm seeing a lot of Chinese posts in my fyp, and Chinese users commenting on English posts, implying english posts are coming up on chinese fyps.

[–] Filthmontane 2 points 14 hours ago

In my opinion, it's been a beautiful and cultural exchange.

[–] [email protected] -3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Go make an account then dude and see how many local Chinese feeds you will see. If it’s anything like my experience, it’s a lot. As of now you have provided zero evidence and are just assumption-mongering. ;)

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I don't know why you are so defensive about this and at this point i don't really care, def not enough to make an account with china lol. I also specifically said they keep the westerners away from the Chinese feeds, not the reverse, so that proves nothing even if i did make one.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

Yeah it goes both ways. Chinese users are seeing US users and US users are seeing Chinese users. I have facts on my side bud. I just call people out who make shit up. Blocked. <3

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

By that logic nothing you said has any evidence linked behind it either, so, for all intents and purposes you haven't called anyone out just made up shit yourself out of pettiness, and because you are oddly defensive about the topic. I didn't personally attack you or anything so I'm not sure why you are so vehemently defensive about some random news tidbit in the first place.

I just shared what i read and saw in another lemmy post on the subject, and said from the beginning feel free to disregard because I don't have the link. Either way, feel free to calm down, or go on another unneeded snarky comment spree, I won't be seeing any of it, I find your passive aggressive style of communication very irritating.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Dude just look at the app. There's no equivelence because the guy you're arguing at has evidence either of you can look at.

Here's a random post by an english speaker, most of the comments are chinese speakers so obviously it is showing up in chinese speakers feeds.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

my guy is ready to die for a chinese spyware app lmao

you haven't provided shit either btw, and honestly look like you're getting in your feels over people calling it out for what it is: chinese spyware.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

it is spyware! just like tiktok and instagram :3

i take issue not with that but with the random assertions that feeds are being kept separate :) here’s US and Chinese fans having fun in a post about American artist Chappel Roan!

Blocking you as well, thanks for letting me know you just like to argue.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 2 days ago (3 children)

I'm so tempted to try it out, but I just really don't like downloading a "random" APK without at least knowing if there's a way to verify there's nothing malicious in the app.

Chinese or otherwise, it's all the same. Took me forever to trust the newpipe download... I'm just too cautious I guess.

[–] ysjet 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Good, that means you're smarter than all the people in this thread using it.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

it’s available on Apple’s Store and Google Play at least in my region. So it’s subject to the same restrictions and oversight every other app available through those platforms is, at least.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Idk about apple but for android that doesn't mean much

[–] [email protected] -1 points 2 days ago

I’m not sure of the proportion, but malware incidents are much rarer on the App Store compared to Google Play.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You can use it in a browser, but it looks like only the phone version has an option for english menus.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Thanks for verifying! I tried looking last night but it just kept trying to have me download the app. I'll have to look again

You can browse without an account by going to the site and clicking x at the the login popup.

You can't comment or read long comment chains, there's probably some other places where the popup blocks you.

Imagine being so addicted to low effort effort memes destroying your attention span that, given an opportunity to break free, you double down and prostitute yourselves to a hostile foreign power.

[–] Allonzee 12 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I consider the domestic powers that be to be hostile to people of low net worth, aka most of the people they govern, so there's that.

When your own society treats you like a disposable capital battery that will gladly kill you when it finally breaks you, like by denying your necessary healthcare in a vast insurance confidence scheme, it's strange to expect allegiance.

The United States is very clear that we're on our own, "free" to die in the streets. I find it strange that some Americans take offense to other Americans taking their business elsewhere.

[–] ysjet 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I take issue with Americans taking their business to foreign governments that are happily and gleefully accelerating the corruption of said domestic powers into the exact behavior that is causing Americans to want to shop elsewhere.

It's going "I dislike how my government is treating me, so I'm going to support the people that are contributing to why my government is treating me that way."

[–] Allonzee 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

That is just sad.

Our capitalist's Greed, avarice, the desire to treat their countrymen as livestock so they can live as modern pharoahs on our back and the willingness to bribe their own regulators and capture the government with their capital (power) they're only supposed to have a single vote in is why the government treats us as livestock.

It's ridiculous you think China made our owner class act as murderous sociopaths in order to amass their ridiculous hoards.

The CCP had nothing to do with our for profit healthcare insurance sector murdering their own customers, our citizens with the approval of both parties, when they become inconvenient to private profit as just one of countless examples. China has their own sins, that isn't one of them.

We are the primary vector destabilizing governments and waging wars to expand our greed disease around the world to keep resources and markets open to our capitalist's exploitation because it's never fucking enough. No one forced us into that. Our owners just demanded moar.

If you want Americans to be loyal, establish social and economic equity. Until then, don't expect the tortured masses to thank or appreciate their torturers, let alone have loyalty to them. That's just Stockholm syndrome.

[–] ysjet 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's a nice big load of nonsense you have there. Unfortunately for you, it's already been proven that Chinese interests are funding anti-american/Republican think tanks, non profits, and politicians.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

What antiamerican think tanks, non-profits, and politicians exist in America?

[–] dx1 6 points 2 days ago

There was a lot more going on on TikTok than memes.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Imagine being so unaware that you think memes are all there is. Recipes, cooking, fashion, sciences, education, music and everything else in high quality high effort are also over there. So you’re just wrong lol.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

The number of "I don't have anything against LGBT+ people, just keep it to yourself" takes is kinda depressing. Though the algo has mostly stopped serving me posts those people comment on and gives me gay furry shit as god intended.

spoiler

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 days ago

I mean, I don't really care to hear about straight people's genitals or sexual preferences either.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago

Well… seems the content is awesome over the great wall. Maybe I should create an account there too.
