A warning, or instructions?

Oxygenlifting is breathing in less polluted oxygen from areas only intended for the rich.

[–] Agent641 3 points 1 month ago

Viewlifting is travelling to wealthy neighbourhoods and taking in the beautiful beachfront, river front, or lakefront views that are only intended for the people who purchased property there. They paid a lot of money for those views, and they don't want lower socioeconomic people coming in and using up all the majestic views for free.

My grandfather, he had a big garden with lots of plants, had been banned from most of the garden stores within a 20 mile radius of his home because he was known to pick leaves of the plants and make saplings out of them.

When he was 76, we had to pick him up from a local police station, since he insulted the officers whilst picking saplings and being caught for driving without a seatbelt.

I miss him.

People picking leaves off plants and damaging them is clearly shitty, and I can see why they would prevent "no it fell off by itself honest" as an excuse.

Theft is when you use your own labor to foster the natural resources that grow on this planet and don't give the pwner class their cut.

I mean, in their defense, the only reason you can pick them up is because they're selling them. It's not free for them to keep the plants and staff there. If you can find the leaves somewhere else then that's fine, but if you can't find that plant anywhere but the store then you're effectively using a service they're offering without paying.

Sure it's not worth the full price of the plant, but it's worth something.

Yeah, go ahead and do this somewhere like Home Depot, but most garden centers and nurseries are just small businesses. They need that income and lose a lot more money from this practice than one would expect (plants can get pretty expensive).

Like, there's this rhododendron garden + nursery near me which has some truly amazing varieties. Things that you can only get there or in Bhutan, for example. They actually send people to these remote places to find rare varieties. Would I love to take a tiny cutting from basically everything there? Absolutely. But no. I pay because they're amazing and I want to support them.

Fuck you, I'm downloading all the cactuses and orchids I want.

[–] daggermoon 13 points 1 month ago

Well I wasn't going to until I read that sign.

[–] Jimmycakes 11 points 1 month ago

Maybe don't sell plants for like $15 that can easily be grown off some shit on the ground for free

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago

I wonder who this could come as a surprise to, you go to a store, pick something from there so you don't have to pay and go home. Of course it's not allowed lol

Picking up trash is a crime now?

[–] M137 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Now? Taking trash has been a crime for a long time. Dumpster diving, for example, you're literally taking the stuff they threw out, but it's illegal to do so. This is trash that's still inside the store, I'm not surprised they don't like it (but I don't agree, at all).

I imagine staff regularly pick then up themselves to private either for the garden itself or for the garden to sell.

So if guests "steal" them, it's likely the garden then gets less funding overall.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

Lmao just because I've read this I will do it, and if I ever hear anyone complaining about this I will do it again

[–] funkyfarmington 3 points 1 month ago

Try to prosecute that, bitch!
