If anyone else finds themselves checking Wikipedia to read about this show, note that you're looking for The Franchise (2024 TV series), not The Franchise (TV series).

Thank you, never heard of it before. Judging by the wiki description it seems like it would be a bit too meta. Like most movies that have a screenwriter as the main character, that kind of vibe.

I liked it well enough to watch through to the end, but I'm neither surprised or heartbroken that it was cancelled.

I watched the first episode and thought it was OK, but not enough to keep watching. I figured if it got a second season I'd go back and catch up.

Anyone think the first (now only) season is worth watching?

It works pretty well as a one season show IMO. Without giving too much away: after watching the ending:

spoiler just in caseit's obvious what happens next to the point where it works as a conclusion.

I cancelled max because of all their cancellations/removals/price hikes. I would think every new show on that platform should expect to be cancelled.

Edit: I loved Avenue 5, I'm sure I would have loved this show too since Iannucci was involved. Hope he gets a success on another network.

you'd think they would have made a franchise out of it....

Haven’t been lied to like this since 48 Hours.

This is a The Boys clone, right?

What? No!! Not at all!

It's a "parody", or maybe, a "comedy" that follows a bunch of crew members filming a superhero movie that's within a superhero universe.

Like, imagine if they made a show about what was happening behind the scenes while filming one of the Ant-man movies.

It was fun to watch. And midlessly funny for 20 minutes per week. Specially if you enjoy the behind-the-scenes world of how movies get made.

They should just say up front that they’re going to cancel stuff so we don’t have to wait a few months before watching in case it gets canceled.
