The Victorian Labor and National parties have opposed a ban on donations from the property industry, as the state’s anti-corruption watchdog found a developer showered the major parties with cash to gain access and attempt to influence lucrative planning decisions.

hardly a surprise, just a state (at in feeling) of ongoing disappointment. the proof is in the pudding, you just have to look around at the quality, type and spread of housing over the last decade to see it in action. the worst part, regardless of which side of politics you sit on is they don't want to change.

Reading the article it's tried to be sold as 'we already have systems in place' but they are clearly not working.

Just like in Canada, these developers will destroy your environment, continue to promote financially insolvent cities by building out not up, and will continue to build houses/condos that barely anyone in the country can afford. All while lining politicians pockets as you wonder if you'll ever be able to afford a house.
