Sometimes the player should get frustrated. Without challenging them at all you run the risk of being boring. And that's worse than straight up sucking.

There's also a wide range of player skill levels to consider. If you aim to make a game not be frustrating for most players, it's going to be boring for a large percentage of the best players. If you aim to make a game challenging for the best players, it's going to be unapproachable for most. Different difficulty tiers of the same fight helps to address that but still alienates players if they find even the lower difficulties too challenging. It's a delicate dance.

I hope they don’t remember the Alexander raids too fondly. Even when I’ve done one before, understanding and remembering the specific goals is infuriating, for myself and all the other players involved.

It’s okay to have something complicated, as long as it has diegetic meaning that makes sense to players quickly.

Maybe I suck, cause I typically have to watch the YouTube guide on the fight, and take a few tries to not die/debuff and get it down. And it seemed more complicated than last raid tier, which I was able to just do all of Pandemonium fine. Usually first try.

Maybe it's better to just wait until they unlock the weekly rewards so you can spam it and get good.

I haven't even done the last raid. Spent all my time doing ranked CC matches to Crystal rank and took a break until ranged rewards come in after Jan 1st. It's a very different skill set, and you kind of have to relearn it all when you switch.

you probably ly don't suck you just haven't practiced learning the content blind. it's a skill set of its own

the last raid sucks specially this late in the tier. my advice is to practice until you get to phase 2 and then start looking for a clear group online, probably using discord

if you don't look for a group you will likely spend the next few dozen pulls getting griefed by PF

I was extremely lucky and found a 7/8 static when I came around phase 2, I listened to my friends advice to find a group and I locked in with them thext day to clear

so I'm passing that advice to you now

It's been a while since I last played but the over-streamlining and continued simplification and homogenisation of the classes in combat was definitely part of the reason I stopped playing.

I'm exceedingly loving the combat design in Dawntrail, so I guess they took some good lessons from EW. That said, I do think CoD P2 is a bit too difficult for what they were aiming for. Two phases of P1 difficulty (mostly personal responsibility & quick reactions) or even very slightly harder, would be absolutely perfect for PF.
