If you find an injured owl:
Note your exact location so the owl can be released back where it came from. Contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitation specialist to get correct advice and immediate assistance.
Minimize stress for the owl. If you can catch it, toss a towel or sweater over it and get it in a cardboard box or pet carrier. It should have room to be comfortable but not so much it can panic and injure itself. If you can’t catch it, keep people and animals away until help can come.
Do not give food or water! If you feed them the wrong thing or give them water improperly, you can accidentally kill them. It can also cause problems if they require anesthesia once help arrives, complicating procedures and costing valuable time.
If it is a baby owl, and it looks safe and uninjured, leave it be. Time on the ground is part of their growing up. They can fly to some extent and climb trees. If animals or people are nearby, put it up on a branch so it’s safe. If it’s injured, follow the above advice.

Milky Eagle Owl (Giant Eagle Owl / Dairy Free Eagle Owl)
Is there a dairy-free version called the Oatmilk Owl?
I take my latte owl with oatmilk owl with cinnamon owl thank you
Oatmilk owl is an upcharge. 😜
You can also call it Verreaux's Eagle Owl (though most are changing the name as it gets acknowledged that Verreaux wasn't the coolest or nicest person) or the Giant Eagle Owl if you prefer it without cream.
Owls don't really drink or typically consume anything other than straight meat, so milk would likely make any owl pretty sick. Not being mammals, they would never be set up to digest it.
Here's where the "milky" part comes from:
From Zoo Atlanta
The milky eagle owl earns its name from the distinctive bare upper eyelids that are easily visible during a blink or a nap. During the breeding season, the eyelids of the males become pinkish or purple, strongly suggesting a role in visual communication associated with reproduction. Females are generally larger than males.
"Milky"
"Pinky" ??
Their eyelids being an indicator of when to get freaky is hilarious.
A step up from a baboon butt I'd say!
Next match: 🦉 👀 vs 🐒 🍑
Morepork of course.
I finally got my Discworld exposure last week. I watched the Hogfather movie and it was amazing!
Gah - I was dreading the post where two of my faves go head to head, and now the time is at hand . . .
Well. Shoot. No one ever said choosing Owl of the Year was going to be easy.
While it pains me to vote against my boy from NZ, I just feel like Eyeshadow Eagle is due. Going for the Big Man.
"We do these things not because they are easy, but because they are hard."
Milky vs Morepork?
How do you expect vegans to vote under these conditions???
The owls eat the meat, not the vegans!
I will update the post to be vegan friendly.
I have to give it to Morepork.
Morepork is somewhat quietly building a solid mass of support. It may end up being the dark horse of the tournament if it keeps it up.
