RPG uses basic RPG mechanics
It kinda bothers me that they're making big deals of the bare minimum. Is that where we're at now?
I love Obsidian writing and quest design but the gameplay for this one looks bad from the trailers. Like a UE5 asset flip.
I hope I'm wrong. Will play for sure if it's on gamepass.
It is a peeve of mine in a game where it's like
- go to a cave. It's empty
- go to a town. Guy says cave is haunted please clear it out
- go back to same cave. Now it's full of ghosts and skeletons!
I feel like this has become less common in the last decade though
I really enjoyed the few times in Witcher 3 where I arrived to a quest giver and Geralt was "oh yeah, lucky you I came across this earlier on". Alas, the few times it happened were so unexpected I completely missed it apart from the "quest complete" kinda pop-up.
Its weird to think that probably this games only legacy that people will remember related to it will be that one of the artists self-reported the company using illegal hiring practices.
I didn't know about it until you mentioned it now, and it changes nothing for me.

The chuds are butthurt that an Obsidian artist said he would prioritize helping artists of color get into the industry over “crusty old white men” or something along those lines. They’re just taking a self deprecating joke too seriously, imo.
