Us "neurotypicals" usually calls those "hobbies". Mine would be movies, concerts and theatres.

Edit: I like software and computer games too.

Charles Darwin famously loved his dog and devoted a non-trivial amount of writing to his dog's rich internal world.

Kamiya going back to Capcom is huge news

It's really more like a poker themed maths game. Would probably be good for a kid to pick it up. (They may or may not turn into a poker pro later in life too!)

It's a shame this gets 18+ while the MTX fuelled FIFA games all get 3+ ratings.

Finally someone is taking a stand against Big Sandwich

I had a job at the time that let me WFH maybe once every 2-3 weeks and I thought it was crazy generous lol.

Now I'm home virtually every day.

Uh I guess we'd need to extend it to Linux + FOSS in general.

Power users: I think we should steal whatever the latest IKEA marketing team have come up with because the appeal is kinda the same as IKEA furniture where you feel more ownership over something having built it from the flat packed box your self.

Average users: does a degoogled chromeOS exist? You just need a video of someone playing with a tablet like interface, then choosing to postpone an update with no dark pattern om the textbox prompt.

One line slogan: Did you ever wish the people who made your software were more passionate about the product than their next promotion?

"This is a UNIX system, we leant about this in school!"

Such a classic line which I couldn't imagine Hollywood coming out with now. I believe the GUI they use is a real one from the early 90s as opposed to CGI from the special effects team.

Never considered the "voters are stupid and greedy" angle... but they are so you might be right here.

The main argument against NIT which I'd always heard was that you were losing the savings on administration that UBI has. In theory with UBI you can get rid of all disabilities and public pensions beaurocracy and means-testing since everyone gets the same lump sum.

NIT has some form of means-testing since you need to catalog who earns what to find those in need.

I've said this in another thread but if you have a prime subscription all these GOG keys are available if you search for the Prime Gaming page.

In my opinion it's racist to assume black people hold right wing political views just to be a "pick-me" for white people. Maybe people from minority ethnic backgrounds simply don't agree on every issue?

Will certainly come in useful if you end up in a Jurassic Park type situation!

I'll probably stick to asking for oat milk instead of "porridge water" or whatever the new mandated name will be. To be honest I do think calling it "milk" lets them inflate the price when it is essentially porridge water.

WTF is this shit Ed? I think I'm going to revoke my membership. Voted Labour last time anyway so my heart hasn't really been in it this year... At least I was able to vote against Layla Moran becoming leader a few years back.

lmao I used to walk to work through lochend from meadowbank to the shore

Videos on WhatsApp showing neds trashing cars and setting off fireworks through letter boxes of random houses. There’s a police helicopter over Niddrie. This is basically a riot every year! Authorities need to clamp down on this somehow.

This is spectator so they are taking the most extreme right wing viewpoint on Labour's recent policies to improve the nation's health. I disagree with how they characterise it for the most part but they do seem to put their finger on the kind of authoritarian impulses inside the party. Definitely think the author misses the mark with their badly thought out/unsupported angle about it being patronising class politics.

I was too young to take in much when John Major was in power but remember New Labour with Blair/Brown very well. They were also keen to make similar kind of policies that were - for lack of a better phrase - nanny state-ish. I found it interesting thinking about that legacy.

Should also mention that both parties tend towards these types of policies. I suspect the civil service are keen on them and they test well in focus groups.

Article is paywalled so will post it in comments.

Let's hope for the return of the sausages
