Rough Roman Memes

73 users here now

A place to meme about the glorious ROMAN EMPIRE (and Roman Republic, and Roman Kingdom)! Byzantines tolerated! The HRE is not.

RULES:

  1. No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, bigotry, etc. The past may be bigoted, but we are not.

  2. Memes must be Rome-related, not just the title. It can be about Rome, or using Roman aesthetics, or both, but the meme itself needs to have Roman themes.

  3. Follow Lemmy.world rules.

Not sure where to start on Roman history?

Uses perfume.

It's been a while since my classical studies, but I distinctly remember every stoic in existence reprimanding their fellow Romans for using perfume, because it was "immoral" and "effeminate".

There are two wolves inside of you

One is a Roman fuckboy telling you to trim your goddamn nails if you want to get laid

The other is a Roman conservative telling you that self-care is a Gr*ekoid plot to steal your manly bodily fluids

You will be destroyed by Goths

Welp, another one for my reading list.

the semi-serious, semi-ironic form is ideally suited to Ovid's subject matter.

Sounds right up our ally.
