I don't know about "STEM Influencers", but in this age of rampant misinformation, we NEED science communicators in as many formats as possible to reach as many people as possible!

I'd rather too many than not enough.

I learned more from “STEM influencers” than I had from classroom educators. And it was much more enjoyable and easier to understand.

I don't know about STEM, but Youtube appears to employ more philosophy PHDs than any dozen universities.

Sadly it seems like the philosophy PhDs getting the real cash from YouTube are the ones that peddle extreme misogyny and other various bigotries, eg lobster man.

Edit: wait, mixing up my Ps there, he’s a psych phd and not philosophy

Stellerarts, aka Dr. Laci Brock, makes cool art on Instagram.

And this was a real retort she made and told us about a while back. Lmao

Imagine you being so shallow that you think other people's honest work makes them unworthy...

I think it's moreso they're, by way of the terminology chose, point themselves in with the likes of "mom blogs" and other social media hustle trash.

Beats being a conspiracy theorist. I would be a science communicator any day of the week, over being insane.

Place the hate where it is deserved, like being the “doctor” that denies health insurance claims or the executive at a big pharma company.

He's got a point... I didn't spend this long in school in order to treat people who know less than I do without contempt.
