The place I'm staying at has Alexa whatever things all over the house. I have given in and used them for timers and alarm clocks so I can reduce use of my phone especially first thing in the morning. It helps that I have to actually use my voice if I want to silence the alarm. So of course I blearily told it to stop for 3 separate alarms this morning - 7, 7:15 and 7:30.

Eventually woke up at 8ish and asked it what the time was and it said "The time is 8:05 am. Happy Friday! πŸ˜‡ "

Is it possible to ask Alexa to be more of a curmudgeonly bitch?

realised this morning that I'd inadvertently gotten a bit of a Tig Notaro (Edit: think Army of the dead) haircut. Local lesbians in my area are very interested (got hit on three times between bunnings and the fresh fruit grocer)

Temp tomorrow tops at 18. It's July. This is not natural.

We have fucked our planet beyond repair. I'm sorry, but conservatism is not only wrong, it's dangerous now, because soon climate change is going to kill tens, if not hundreds of millions of people.

I am enjoying my second pub meal in one day. I highly recommend blowing off work, booking a random motel at the last minute and escaping to country Vic. Hi from Yackandandah.

Day 2 of intermediate body shred challenge completed, plus tummy exercises. I got home from work last night, did 2 loads of washing, very begrudgingly cooked dinner, which was lovely, had exhausting argument with elder minipeeler about doing homework and basically collapsed into bed without doing my evening exercises πŸ˜” Both minipeelers are home sick today. Made a breakfast juice with ginger, pear, spinach, apple celery and a small beetroot. I'd show you a picture but, you know, it's a purple ploppy looking juice.

Bonus picture of dinner

Picture is of steak with mash, peas and broccoli, chargrilled zucchini and red Brussels sprouts cooked in a mushroom cream sauce, thereby negating any health benefits of said sprouts. I seem to cook better when I'm tired and pissed off.

Rejected again, I'm unemployable
Dejected again, unenjoyable
But I got fishnet stockings on, feeling neat
I'll dance my bleeding heart out, undefeated
I'll keep trying to be another wage-drone
In a capitalist landscape that wants me gone
I don't care anymore, I know I am qualified
Don't care about my failings being quantified
I'm ready to dance, I'm ready to go
Where I'll end up, I do not know
But whereever it is, it's where I'm meant to be
Tonight I'll let loose, and pretend I am free

It was a wet dog walk this morning. The night was warm too - I did not sleep well, and tossed and turned so much Mr Woof went to sleep in the lounge room. It makes me feel much better about being at work when I am not missing a nice day.

Update on the neighbour dog barking. I heard from another neighbour that the owners have gone to Europe, it seems like they've just left the dog at the house and expect whoever to visit and feed it, and it's being left outside all day and night. I'm not sure if anyone is pet sitting or living at the house, there's no cars around. Going on holiday doesn't absolve you of your responsibilities as a dog owner. Dogs need exercise and attention, it ain't getting any of that so it's barking around the clock. I called the council but they're useless. Goodbye sleep and sanity.

In better news, off for Friday knock-off drinks soon. This weather is perfect for beer.

Well that's another job I didn't get... As much as I like working for the APS, I'm getting very sick of their drawn out recruitment process that seems to go no where for me no matter how much effort I put in. What sucks is I'm desperate to get out of my current job but I can't just quit because I'll lose all the clearances that come with being an APS employee, which make me ever so slightly more favourable when I do apply for jobs. This whole thing is definitely becoming a huge rut for me.

I love mein Opa. He loves pulling apart dangerous appliances (think microwaves) that he finds during hard-rubbish, and refurbishing them. He built the sun-room by himself, and wired it all back in the 70s, we have Sunday Lunch in it still. He browses the internet and knows how to research, learning from YT how phones and PCs are made.

But he had to ask me for help, bc his Samsung Android phone kept notifying him every 5 minutes or so that he had a msg. I had to pop into the settings and show him how to turn the 'reminder' feature off.

He's the best.

I’m drawing landscapes just to learn how to use digital brushes and it’s a bit frustrating. Each one seems to look a tad crappier than the last. (The first wasn’t bad.) But you know, it’s that or sitting for long periods with pencils or standing to paint. Or doing nothing. For some reason I can’t currently focus on books.

I’m using a $10 Big W stylus (Cygnett) and $10 Procreate Pocket on phone. Just can’t seem to do a smooth flowing sketch line like I can with a traditional pencil (my posture and screen size doesn’t help) so I’m fudging a lot with paint and smudge tool. One of the brushes stopped working? The features and layers are also limited so maybe this is intended to take visual notes while out for doing fully later.

It’s not bad to experiment with though if you don’t put pressure on yourself and have some music on in the background.

Really annoying that r/ArtFundamentals went private right when I got interested in trying to learn with exercises.

I tried this, but I'm at work so it made people think I needed something. I asked for coffee and a biscuit but apparently it's only appropriate to ask for work related help. Life is so unfair.

Edit: someone just came around with donuts. I guess life's not so bad after all.

Been a long week at work. Tomorrow is time for a "new clothes" spree and a haircut.

May as well get something out of all this work right?

Looks like the rain is clearing out towards the east. Might risk the bike after all. BOM says a sunny afternoon.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It can't be sunny until after lunch. I have soup, and need it to be soup weather until after I have eaten.

oof. while out and abouting and enticing the local lesbiantry I picked up some Challah and I have been ripping through that loaf with bear hands like the savage, savage beast I am.

I do not regret this decision but 3/4th of a loaf later parts of my digestive system are registering complaints.

I sliced half of them for a stirfry. Still thinking what to do with the other half.

Slowly sinking down into my bed
With thoughts swirling in my head
Sigh, I remember what I said
I wouldn't post my pain on this thread
But I am desperate for connection
To be seen, in the face of self-rejection
I want to feel some validation
That I'm not alone in my complications
I can win this fight against my brain

Without MC (medication) I had a real rough time sleeping. It's actually fucked how much it helps.

I ended up buying a pouch of tobacco and now I'm having a sober ciggie. I told mein liebe to hide the pouch.

How else can I hate myself more? Suggestions welcome πŸ˜‚

Edit: can someone tell me I'll hop back on the wagon pls

I started the sign-up process with Sumo Energy, then realised there was no option to put a date of change in so didn't continue (I have fixed rate until the end of August). They have been sending me regular emails, and have now upgraded to offering me a $50 fuel voucher if I sign up. Apparently waiting pays.

Ugh. How much do friend arguments suck. You've only got my side of the story, but they were absolutely being an immature brat about a work thing they're going through. And during their ranting, they also managed to direct some insults at me. Uncalled for dude. And I actually think they could be using this work situation to their advantage. Hopefully we can move past this, because I have since apologised (though between us I lowkey think I shouldn't be apologising lmao), but so be it if we don't. A shame, but this isn't the first time things have been said that don't sit right with me. UGH

People have been dumping all their fast food garbage in the street around our house and our neighbours and it honestly has me raging. It’s always been a problem but is getting worse lately, they clearly just let it pile up in their car and then dump it all out?! Considering becoming the local Karen and posting passive aggressive signs around the place.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That ain’t Karen, that carin’.

I think the gas ban needs more education. So many people still believe that it's more efficient using a gas heater than reverse cycle.

We're now better off burning the gas in a power plant, and running reverse cycles than using gas heating itself.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

Gas has been the cheaper option for so long, and I think a lot of people mistake that for efficiency. The idea that something can be both less efficient but also cheaper seems counter-intuitive.

Until very recently gas appliances were the sensible option because the cheaper running costs more than made up for the increased up front costs (unless you are a landlord and will be pushing the operating costs to someone else). That has also changed, which I think a lot of people also haven't caught up with.

So there is no doubt I’m late to the party, but I was beyond pleased to find that I could add voice recordings to MS PP for each slide, have them auto play and set up the slide to go to the next after each (timed) and then export it as a video. The amount of times I have re-recorded videos in the past… Why did I not realise this sooner. Definite large rock I live under.
