This is one of the longest running problems without a solution i have ever had (it caused me to seek out alternative clients in the first place)
Anyway, heres the deal: Youtube doesnt seem to remember my history on any video, heres the things i tried: check of history is in (it is)
ad these to ublock origin .video-stats.l.google.com .s.youtube.com
disable ublock origin
try a different browser ( fresh firefox and two different chromium ones)
disable tampermonkey

And today i looked at my history again, and the weirdets thing is it does remember the position and when i open the video from googles watch history, it works, i opened a video normally after that and it worked too

Anyone with any idea what is going on here would be greatly appreciated

Check the Watch History option in your Google Account settings. I believe they have two separate buttons for the same thing...

is there anything else but the watched history and its subsetting?
both are on

Do you utilize a local DNS blocker? I was having history issues until I whitelisted s.youtube.com which fixed it.

no dns blocker, i even tried it on a fresh firefox installation

Dang, I don't think I have recommendations here. I've had done mobile issues on Android, but desktop has always had my history intact. Sorry I can't be more helpful!

thank you regardless

My question is, if you're using ublock origin you must have some desire for privacy — so why in the world do you actively want to allow Youtube to track your viewing habits? SMDH.

im not here for a lecture on privacy my guy, i just dont want any ads besides:
cause freetube devs are a bunch of snobs that refused to listen to criticism for their new video player

Right? When any service offers to 'store your data' or 'remember your history' it's cause for concern.
