personally surprised that Tesla beats Jeep, but I'm uploading it mostly because it says not to.

Why surprised? Tesla Model Y is the best selling vehicle in the world.

[–] BigPotato 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Wait, did I read that right? Less than 1,000 units?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 hour ago

I see 976,000 units sold 2024

Why is Jeep listed as an American brand when they're owned by a company from the Netherlands?

[–] Visstix 1 points 5 hours ago

Huh interesting. Apparently it's a french-italian-american company with it's hq in the netherlands for tax benefits I'm guessing. So.. I guess the flag sorta checks out?

You wouldn’t upload a car… chart, would you?

[–] MuddyGeek 3 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

Where is General Motors? I don't think this chart is super accurate.

Chevrolet is in the list. Looks like it's by brand, hence the reason that Audi is also broken out from Volkswagon.

[–] xploit 1 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Broken down to it's smaller brands for some reason... Like Audi is a VW...same as Porsche, Seat, Skoda, Lamborghini aaand whatever else they profuce

[–] [email protected] 7 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Why wouldn't you break it down into brands like this?

[–] xploit 0 points 5 hours ago

Well personally like seeing the full picture. Like this for example, which would obviously look different with worldwide sales included, but you can find appropriate individual brands and also how they perform as a group manufacturer. https://www.best-selling-cars.com/europe/2024-half-year-europe-best-selling-car-manufacturers-and-brands/

Mercedes bar is longer then BMW despite having smaller value. Did they try to visually balance the smaller width? How do you fuck up a bar graph?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 14 hours ago

I think that's what the dotted line is for, the scale changed so it's easier to see the scale of each of the brands on the lower half, compared to each other.

I wasn’t aware of the fact that Suzuki outsells Mazda. How long has that been happening?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 12 hours ago

Suzuki is the best selling car brand in India

[–] [email protected] 6 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (1 children)

This is probably why. https://www.statista.com/statistics/1090709/india-car-sales-volume-by-oem/

Same source as OP. 1.6 out of 2 million of Suzuki sales come from dominating the market in a single country.

[–] falidorn 4 points 16 hours ago

Whoa. That is definitely market dominance.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 13 hours ago

It’s a popular brand in Asia. Mitsubishi as well.
