This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.

This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

Just post some stuff and don't spam.

Moldy cheese tastes like mold.

I've never had bleu cheese, gorgonzola, or roquefort that tasted like dirt smell.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

Well, either my dirt or my cheese smells wrong then, because they never smell similar to me.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago

It wasn't any of those. I literally just ate moldy cheese from my fridge because I was bored

I love intentionally moldy cheese. Particularly goat cheese.

Gimme some Stilton all day.

Well, today I intentionally ate moldy cheese. It was gouda and the mold was a grayish green tone and not very fuzzy.

Besides the taste I haven't had any negative effects so far. I melted it on a pan to at least "cook" it a little. But I could tell there were big chunks of mold due to the particular dirt flavour.

You probably shouldn't eat that kind of moldy cheese. It's hard to say what type of fungus you just ate. It isn't the same as what is done intentionally.

Yeah, um, don’t do that. It could kill you.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Still alive :D No negative effects so far

[–] CarbonatedPastaSauce 2 points 3 months ago

That's great! Next time it could be something far deadlier.

But you do you, I'm not your dad.

With some fine, aged back'o'dafridge milk to accompany it.

Chef's kiss

Gouda, first of all, is not a type of cheese that should be moldy.

Also, cheeses that are made to be moldy, don't just become moldy on their own. The mold is added in the production process, and is a type of mold that usually wouldn't have appeared on the cheese anyhow.

I left it out for a while accidentally, put it back in the fridge, went away for a week and now I got poor man's gourmet blue cheese.

Guess I'll die soon ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Petrichor is the word for that smell!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago

Oh no! That smells delicious, and it happens when it rains. I mean literal dry dirt. From the ground, to your plate

[–] JusticeForPorygon 1 points 3 months ago

I've always said blue cheese tastes like dirt but NO ONE ever believed me.
