I've been a loyal RiF user for years. RiF is reddit to me. This really sucks. So long, reddit.

Same. It's a shame. RIF shutting down is the main reason I'm here.

I'd be lying to say I'm not sad about this. I'll use the app up until the bitter end, then bid farewell to reddit.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 year ago

I'll do the same. RIF is Reddit to me, no RIF = no Reddit.

Same here. It is going to suck A LOT - I've been a heavy reddit user for more than 15 years, most of it was through RiF. I will miss some communities I'm a part of there, but there is no way I'm using the garbage official app or supporting the lying scum of the CEO of they place, so this is how my reddit adventure ends... :(

Holy shit. They lost their two best apps on both platforms in one day. Maybe the people running the company are failing.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

When you put it that way, it's pretty unbelievable they've done this. They had many developers willing to make more (and better) ways to interact with the site (wtf happened to "engagement", isn't that the literal buzzword these days?)

They could have literally just either had a fair pricing system, ads in the API, and removal of ads for Reddit premium users (or even all 3). Even if their main concern was AI scraping, just make it so it's limited and you can't literally just download the whole of Reddit. It'd be very easy to distinguish AI traffic from user traffic.

Same. This was my 3rd party app of choice. Wonder if the dev will adapt it for this platform

According to another user on that reddit post, the dev is raising funds for a new web based on reddit, called Tildes.net.

I've got an account there and it feels great. It just needs users, but the core is effectively res old.reddit for mobile, e.g. The reddit many of us started out with a 10+ years ago

17 years of Reddit here. If you have invites, I would love one!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Hey sorry to ask, any chance you can send me/DM an invite? I’m just a dude that likes niche communities and doesn’t troll.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Promising, but they need to open up registration. This is happening now.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Huh, that could be interesting.

Just the possibility of RIF shutting down last week is what brought me here. Now with it being confirmed, I'm really hoping to make this my new home and saying goodbye to reddit entirely

My first ever Reddit app. Despite having used so many different reddit apps over the years I always kept coming back to Reddit is Fun. Going to miss it.

Synch is going too. But that was the point, wasn't it. We all saw it coming. Sadly Bill Gates didn't decide to save any of them.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

What does bill gates have anything to do with this
