THE LAST SCREAM YOU HEAR WILL BE YOUR OWN.

SIRIUS 6B, the year 2078. On a distant mining planet ravaged by a decade of war, scientists have created the perfect weapon: a blade-wielding, self-replicating race of killing devices known as Screamers designed for one purpose only -- to hunt down and destroy all enemy life forms.

I love this movie. The action is fun but it also has a deeper subtext about consciousness and whether machines can think, etc. It is based on the short story Second Variety by Philip K. Dick.

Being a Philip Dick story gives it a little more credibility, especially if they followed his ideas pretty closely.

I have a love/hate with bad B movies. Sometimes it's like watching a train wreck in slow-mo, wondering if it'll come through and actually be a better story than expected. Like "They Live".

Edit: Looks like PK is one of the screenwriters?

It's really shocking how many Philip K. Dick stories have been made into films. Off the top of my head, the ones I can remember are:

Total Recall (two versions)

Blade Runner

Screamers

A Scanner Darkly

Paycheck

Imposter

The Man in the High Castle (a streaming series, not a film)

The Minority Report

...And I'm sure that I'm missing at least some. If he hadn't died so young, he would have been insanely wealthy from how many times his stories have been adapted into major films.

A bit of Tremors, a bit of The Thing, with some Aliens sprinkled in there as well. Starring RoboCop himself, Peter Weller.

That's some sick miniatures and matte paintings

This movie is a weird classic for me. Haven't seen it in YEARS but I miss it.

Go watch it again! :)

Aside from a few inexplicably bad robot bits, this is a really good and underrated movie.

Watched this as a kid in 1997 or so. I was probably 12 years old. Scared the shit out of me and I had nightmares every now and again for a while.

Great movie.

Holy hell that looks utterly awful.

Just my kind of awful B movie though!

I see those videos online off Russian soldiers running for their lives and think of this movie.
