How is that a ceasefire when IDF troops snipe kids and journalists in their downtime?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 weeks ago

That's the neat part, it's not!

Good, occupation isn't resolution.

[–] [email protected] 31 points 2 weeks ago

Maintaining an occupation is incompatible with a ceasefire.

Ok, we can stop punching each other, as long as I get to keep punching you. What do you mean you don’t accept?

It's a "ceasefire" where only one side must cease firing.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 weeks ago

I knew those Khamas couldn't be trusted! Next they'll say the sky is blue!

officials told Israeli news outlet Maariv that American officials involved in the talks were hoping for a ceasefire deal before the US election on 5 November.

So that's what they were doing. Too little, too late, too arrogant who the fuck do these assholes think they are?

The arrogant pieces of shit in the Biden administration thought they could swoop in, get some kind of ceasefire to say they did something, less than a week before the election.

Am I wrong to assume Israel wouldn't stop their genocide even if the US stops supporting them? The US isn't forcing Israel to be scumbags.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Israel would not be able to exist without American support. It's a welfare colonial state that exists thanks to the arms, technology, and soldiers the US provides. Israel is ridiculously hated in the middle east. Even their "friends" like Saudi Arabia, are only friends because of American influence. That support and influence goes away then they get attacked by every nation around them.

Fair enough, but does Israel need permission to not genocide their neighbours? We should focus on Israel first I think. Unless you think they're a lost cause.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

They're definitely a lost cause. Majority of Israeli citizens support the genocide. They don't want to stop, not until they've grabbed a decent amount of land first.

And besides, Israel doesn't have the means to continue it without America. They're burning through too much cash and weapons to continue without foreign support.

Well it's too far for Netanyahu to turn around now. He is being rewarded politically and I feel like he has already put all his chips into the destroy Hamas and Hezbollah, no matter the collateral. The sad truth is that October the 7th basically was a golden ticket for Netanyahu politically.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 2 weeks ago

I think you mean he put all his chips into leveling and colonizing Gaza and the West Bank. “Destroying Hamas and hezbollah” is literally the “stop hitting yourself” excuse.
