Scientists have been telling us all about this situation, with increasing urgency over the decades, for about 50 years now. Jimmy Carter tried to enable environmental responsibility during his term (tax credits, research funding), and had solar panels installed on the White House in 1979. Reagan removed the panels instead of replacing them, and allowed Carter's initiatives to expire. Al Gore's movie "An Inconvenient Truth" is almost 2 decades old. Voters have said the environment is a big concern for, at minimum, the last 3 elections.

It's not a surprise yet.

I'm waiting for the public and for the politicians to yell that the scientists should have warned them. Why didn't the scientists warn them?
