I'm not taking OS recommendations from someone who sucks so bad at programming they need 3 rubber ducks to debug.

/uj I had to get the insult part of that out there, the rubber ducks were too inspirational, I'm sure you're a great programmer.

If you hold the picture far enough away, it just looks like one white duck.

Opinions on RGB ducks vs CMYK ducks?

[–] IndiBrony 9 points 2 months ago

Whilst I absolutely prefer CYMK in terms of colours, it also reminds me of printers, which I generally despise. I grew up in a time where planting your eyeballs on a CRT would show up those wonderful little RGB bars. Terrible for the eyes, but also very pretty to look at.

I think RGB would narrowly win, but it's close, and I wouldn't scorn anyone for having a different opinion. ❤️

The only RGB that is acceptable imo

They make The monitor faster!

Maybe there's a debugging blåhaj that we can't see? Maybe it's the too?

The first article of sigbovik 2024 (which is relevant to this entire community tbh) suggested the blåhaj will replace rubber ducks.

Your ducks look like riff on the old ViewSonic logo that was on my CRTs growing up.

Nice monitor, I think my mom had that one when I was growing up. Does it go up to 1600x1200? I think that was the resolution her monitor had. I think it was also an aperture grille instead of a shadow mask.

Mine was a basic-bitch beige shadow mask tube (which, amusingly, now tend to be worth more than a lot of the last generation mid-range CRTs despite being lower quality). I managed to find one on eBay in decent condition after a year or two of searching, so now it's sitting in my room. My next CRT might be one like yours.

Edit: I wish someone could come up with an inexpensive way of manufacturing small quantities of CRTs. There aren't any new CRTs and likely won't be due to the cost and complexity of the tubes. All the "new" ones are actually low-use tubes in new shells.

Edit 2: sorry if this came off as "haha, my mom had that monitor". I meant it like, "oh cool! I think that's the same model my mom had!"

It actually goes up to 1280x1024! I know what you mean, you can still find TV's relatively easily but most people threw away monitors so those are much harder to find. It's good for gaming because it has theoretically 0 input lag. If you try a retro Nintendo game (where input is important), Even using a 2ms monitor makes noticeable impact compared to a CRT. Tetris attack for example is like night and day on a CRT vs modern TV. It also helps when playing a FPS
