Not as exciting as I had hoped, but still a decent race.

I don’t see Red Bull stoping at just 12 consecutive wins, it’s going to be a season for the record books.

[–] BURN 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I genuinely could see them winning every remaining race. They’re rapid in race trim and it’s not even close.

[–] R05 13 points 1 year ago (2 children)

In the hands of Verstappen yes, with Perez not a guarantee

[–] gramathy 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

If he hadn’t started in P9 he probably would have caught Norris

[–] WhiteHawk 5 points 1 year ago

Yes we’ve had 12 Max wins, but what about 13?

[–] calamitycastle 27 points 1 year ago

Piastri with another solid race which for me, proves his quality. He has been on the pace immediately when given the upgrades and I have no doubt he can take a win either this season or next (assuming McLaren keep up the car development)

[–] mlfh 23 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Fucking Nico throwing in a "you know, I too have 7 consecutive wins" in the interview lol

[–] bhmnscmm 25 points 1 year ago (1 children)

To be fair Max asked him what his record was.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Max knows a lot of stats, he’s pretty good at those quizzes they play on the f1 YouTube channel. In the interview it looked like he already knew Nico’s record was 7 before he asked

[–] BURN 15 points 1 year ago

Don’t forget he beat Lewis Hamilton in Equal Machinery too!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Sure, that he fought tooth and nail for. This is a whole other level of domination

[–] CoolBeance 18 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (11 children)

Congrats again but is anyone else getting bored of this? Putting me off the sport to be frank

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 year ago (1 children)

In terms of race wins, yeah it would be nice to see some variety. But if you ignore what's going on with Max, it's still exciting to watch the rest of the field changing round race after race. AM, Merc, Ferrari and now McLaren keeping us guessing who else is going to be on the podium, and Checo being a bit of a wildcard keeps the races interesting at least.

[–] CoolBeance 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I get your point but it's a bit difficult to ignore the most significant position in a race especially seeing how significant of an event it was that someone other than Verstappen picked up pole in qualifying yesterday

[–] fluke 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I don't mean this in a disparaging way, new fans are just as important and their passion just as valid as grizzled ones.

But this era of domination isn't new or unusual. Honestly, before Red Bull, it was Merc, then Red Bull. Every regs era has been dominated by a team. Some have been closer than others, but generally there's always been one which is 90% better than the rest in terms of wins. It only changes towards the last couple of years before a regs change.

As someone who has sat though years of Mercedes domination I am happy for a change of leadership. The past three seasons have been more exciting in general as well. Get back to me when Resbull wins the 8th consecutive constructors in 2029.

[–] Redredme 9 points 1 year ago

Yes, this.

It was Lewis(2014), Lewis(2015), Nico(2016), Lewis(2017), Lewis(2018, Lewis(2019), Lewis (2020).

WTC? Even more boring, merc all the way. With the wdc we at least had Nico once.

And now people are moaning after 2 years? Come on, deal with it. It sounds more and more like chauvinistic bs if you look at the stats objectively.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The rest in f the field has been pretty mobile. McLaren coming up through the ranks. AM slipping down. Mercedes clawing out what they can. Ferrari Ferrari-ing. Plus Williams popping up out of nowhere. The overall, a pretty good season if you take out the front runners, which prob makes most seasons more interesting anyway

[–] CoolBeance 4 points 1 year ago

It's definitely cool to see how dynamic P2 and below could be

[–] BURN 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I started watching during Merc dominance, so it’s nothing new. I’m more excited for the fight for P2 every race now. We’ve genuinely got 4.5 teams in contention for it every race, and it’s been incredibly competitive so far.

This is better than HAM VER BOT or VER HAM BOT every race

[–] CoolBeance 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Haha I'm curious who that ".5" is in your reply here

[–] BURN 5 points 1 year ago

Perez since he doesn’t seem to be able to lock out second place.

Technically only 1 Aston is fighting for it too, so it might round out to an even 4

[–] bhmnscmm 8 points 1 year ago

It honestly doesn't bother me. Formula 1 is just as much an engineering competition as it is a driving competition. This is just the nature of non-spec series.

Not to mention the fantastic competition behind RB.

[–] Pinecone 4 points 1 year ago

Not at all. The fight for podium is pretty tense now that Mercedes and McLaren are more equal.

I haven’t watched any of the last 4 of the Max Verstappen Invitational Races.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Does Lemmy have a spoiler tag or anything? If it doesn't we need one.

Doesn't work on at least my mobile app.

Sometimes it really seems like Max is playing a video game and everyone is in Race mode, but he's fucking doing "Time Trial"...

[–] Motecuhzoma 10 points 1 year ago

This man is fucking ridiculous, he’s gonna win every remaining race of the season

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Need spoiler tags over there Mods at Lemmy.world

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I see spoiler tags have been agreed.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

If we’re not going to post spoiler warnings, I’m gonna need to block the entire community.

[–] TesterJ 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Just temporarily block the community whenever you haven't watched the race yet to avoid spoilers. Formuladank as well if you're subscribed there. That's what I did on Reddit and I do it here as well.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Sounds like what I’ll do. The mods on Reddit were stubbornly against any spoiler warnings. Hoping we could have that here.

[–] SpezHater69 3 points 1 year ago

Same, but ill probably just forget to unblock it eventually lol

[–] mintiefresh 6 points 1 year ago

Absolutely dominant season from Max and Red Bull.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Max is honestly just practicing to overtake slower classes once he switches to endurance by now

[–] TheBlue22 6 points 1 year ago

He is inevitable

~~The Field Is Closing Up To Red Bull™~~

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

All victories for RB until the end. No wonder why Domenicali is on favor to let in 4 to F1...

[–] Darkhoof 3 points 1 year ago

Man, this season is too boring. But it's not his fault. He is unstoppable and Red Bull is a step above everyone else. The fight between the other teams is cool though. Aston Martin dropped off a lot.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Holy shit he talked so much. 12 wins in a row does mean something!
