It seems most Steam users still prefer to buy games instead of using Gamepass. Microsoft made a push to get more PC Gamepass subscribers(they had a promotion with friend trials, might still be going) since there's huge potential for growth but I'm not sure how it's going.

Personally I try games out on Gamespass and if I actually enjoy them enough and want the extras I buy it on Steam.

This is what I did with Hades and MCC

For a game that I really care about, I'd prefer to never have its availability in question. Gamepass is great for letting me try stuff I'm curious about though.

Gamepass will usually announce the games they're removing a month in advance, so you can just buy them (at a discount too) before they are return off.

But steam games aren't safe from never being delisted. If they are and you don't have the game, you won't be able to get it again.

I liked Gamepass, but I found I didn't really appreciate most of the games. It was like going to a buffet rather than a sit-down restaurant and enjoying one entree. Also they took away the $1 per month deal that you could get by canceling and re-subscribing the next day. :(

Not so surprising, given their release-heavy Xbox direct they just put out.

And after a while most will leave GamePass.

The Xbox Studios and Bethesda games aren’t as likely, and from what I saw that was a lot of them.

The specific list linked in the submission lists only Starfield as MS first party game and not lots.

Or it'll be like every other streaming service as of late and realize that hemorrhaging money won't provide them the results they desire.

Almost every single streaming service is on the outs with consumers right now, and I can't help but wonder if/when game pass' time I will be up as well.

Microsoft is trying to buy their way to the top. I’m curious about what will happen to gamepass if the Activision deal falls apart. In all likelihood, some executives will lose their jobs and Xbox strategy could change.

Throwing infinity amounts of money at the game industry may no longer seem like such a good idea to a different leadership team.
