Slowly getting really excited for this. Between the demo and now the scenes showing here, I'm starting to really dig the new visuals, and the voice work in the playable part was fantastic.

I'm so excited for this! Life is Strange is a really important series to me. I didn't care for LiS2 but the original and True Colors are 2 of my favorite games ever. I still need to play Before the Storm though.

Mixed feelings about this. On one hand Deck Nine have, in my opinion, produced the best LiS content of the series. On the other hand, my opinion of them has soured somewhat since the whole nazi stuff came out: https://www.ign.com/articles/how-hidden-nazi-symbols-were-the-tip-of-a-toxic-iceberg-at-life-is-strange-developer-deck-nine

Thanks for sharing this. I love the series so I will play this, tbqh I'm not sure these events mark Deck Nine out much from the industry as a whole sadly.

Off topic, what did y'all think of LiS2? I thought it was a real shame that it didn't do as well as they hoped.

LiS2 is definitely their worst game yet. It was just plain not as interesting as the rest, and it's the only LiS where your main character isn't the one with the powers. Plus horrible things keep happening to them, so it's just depressing.

On the other hand, I really loved True Colors. I thought it was really damn nice, but unfortunately you can tell something went wrong, because it was painfully short. The entire game happens in a single tiny location, leaving you wishing for more, and it never arrived.

Ultimately I'm more excited about Lost Records these days. Still hope Double Exposure ends up being good, but LiS as a series lost its soul over time

Yeah I think that is the general sentiment on 2. I didn't feel this way at all when I played it.

I think the themes in 2 are so powerful and explored in interestin such interesting ways. It tackles growing up and responsibility but also obviously politics, protest, immigration, racism.

True colours gets in to some of these more global themes too, albeit in a much narrower scope.

I guess 2 was a lot more ambitious and clearly didn't land for people as successfully

I never played it, so can't comment. I watched a brief let's play of the first chapter, but that was it.

I thought the writing was excellent, especially compared to the first game. It also had a bisexual storyline for what it's worth but I generally thought it was such a great expansion of all their ideas.

Also loved the free teaser game captain awesome, and how it crossed over into the main game.

I feel like they really were stung by the overall reception of it, that we lost the storyline we'd have had if it had gone over well. I thought it was vastly superior personally. That said I've enjoyed all the games in the series. Before the storm feels janky at first but does have some decent writing in it also.

I thought BtS was excellent, better than LiS 1 in many was, but that's partly because I liked Chloe more than Max.

LiS2 wasn't my favorite. It started to feel like misery porn after a while, not to mention bordering on the absurd with the variety of situations they put the kids through. I think the story would have been stronger without the cult chapter. Expanding on the themes in the last chapter might have been a better choice and more consistent with the overall narrative. I will say, though, the endings are solid in the "choices matter" department. Best in the series with that, and a standout in gaming in that category.

I liked Before the Storm and True Colors, so I'm definitely looking forward to Deck Nine continuing the series with Double Exposure.
