Four right now. I have a kbin that I'm keeping contained to kbin for the time being. I have one on Beehaw that was going to be my main on Lemmy, but I made another on .world to interact everywhere since Beehaw defederated for now. And one for NSFW-only.

I've got three. I started with a beehaw account but now have one at sh.itjust.works after beehaw defederated and a third at lemmynsfw for....reasons.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

You have reasons tooβ€½ We should be best friends!

[–] Huntr 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Two on Lemmy. One on lemmy.world because it seemed both popular and stable enough, and a second one that I'm planning to use now that Beehaw blocked lemmy.world.

Feeling really bummed out that posts on communities from Beehaw are now different depending on what instance you use to view them now.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Oh I missed that Beehaw blocked lemmy.world, any link or TL;DR for why?

[–] OverfedRaccoon 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Beehaw is having trouble moderating some bad actors and harassment coming from some instances with open signups. They've decided to defederate for now until things settle down and better mod tools get released.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Hey thanks! Shame that there's harassment going on, but at least federation makes it easier for them to control for that if they so wish!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They don’t like the open registration process and they feel there was too many bad actors on that server, so they defederated from them.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Thanks, that's good to know! I'll have to go poking around beehaw to find a post.

I just have my lemmy.world account.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I have one Lemmy account for now. Following the KISS protocol (keep it simple).

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I've got one on kbin and two on Lemmy. Don't know wtf I'm doing but ideally I'll stick with this kbin account since eventually it will be an "all in one" account for kbin, Lemmy and mastodon. Just waiting on a dedicated kbin app.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

A handful of them. The fragmentation of lemmy is yet to be improved. It is common for me trying to subscribe to remote community that the remote community is not found or the instance is in "Blocked Instances".

This is bad for general users since they will not be patient or bother to open multiple accounts across multiple instances.

I have kbin.social account along with this lemmyworld account because several days ago kbin.social didn't federate so I must made new account to check on them.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I have this as well

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Started with one at lemmy.world, moved to this one at feddit.uk because I wanted to interact with both beehaw and lemmy.world which were defederated from each other. I have one at kbin but I'll probably access everything from here for simplicity. So, 3.

How do you feel that Lemmy.world was defederated from beehaw?

[–] tallwookie 7 points 1 year ago

concerned that beehaw will become an insular echo chamber.

[–] Glunkbor 2 points 1 year ago

One here and one on kbin, but I noticed that I spent 80% of the time here. I often want to try out kbin, but the cloudflare-check I have to go through every single time I want to use kbin is annoying and it just feels more empty than Lemmy. So I often can't be bothered to go to kbin anymore and will most likely choose Lemmy as my replacement for Reddit.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Two, but only because I can't log into the other fediverse instance that I've registered (sh.itjust.works).

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Just this one account and I don't plan on having others. I don't see the point.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I think I'm up to 12 now across both platforms.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Two for me, one lemmy and one kbin

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I would be interested from the users who have multiple accounts, do you use the same name and password everywhere, so do you use the accounts as "one", or is it different for each instance?
If so, why?
For security reasons, if the database of an instance is cracked?
Do you not want your NSFW account's postings to be associated with your other stuff?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

I use a password manager (Keepass) so every service has a different password usually 24 characters with upper-lower case, numbers, and special.

For critical services like paypal and email, I also use different usernames.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

So far same name, different passwords. Not really much thought given to any of it, I just wanted to get up and running quickly and I'll possibly change it when things settle down (I'm not really attached to this name). Different passwords is just good standard practice.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Four so far. Eventually I’ll pick one but right now I’m not sure which instance will be my home.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

two. this one, and I made an account on fedia.io back when kbin was having issues federating. but I only use this one now.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Two, one on beehaw which was my first one, and one on kbin cause it's cool.
Edit: if you are thinking of joining kbin give fediverse.boo and readit.buzz a try. Two stable kbin instances

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I know for mastodon, you can move your account over to other mastodon instances while keeping all your data and such.

Is there currently a way to do that with kbin? In case I wanted to branch out to a more niche instance but keep my profile and messages and subscribed magazines and such?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I have this one, and one on lemmy.world, which I'm giving up as I prefer the interface of kbin. And, well, the defederation issue.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

One lemmy.ca that was my first.

One NSFW one.

And one kbin one. The kbin interface is really the best is far.

I have Mlem as an iOS app for lemmy but it’s pretty rough. For now kbin provides the best interface on a browser.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Made one on Beehaw, and then because I could not figure out how to use that to login to Kbin, I just made a 2nd one for Kbin. It doesn't really bother me too much, since it's almost like ye old days of different accounts on different forums.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

One Kbin account and one Lemmy account. I started in Lemmy in a small instance that I'm still fond of. But enjoy the feel of kbin better than Lemmy.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Three. Only find myself using two, one'a kind of a backup/clone on a less crowded instance for when my two mains are both overloaded. Once it calms down I'll make one my work/around people account (NSFW content not allowed), my every day account, and the other one my...ummm...you know what, don't worry about the third account.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

got five across various instances and will probably end up with a few more. i like to hedge my bets, and i also like to comment in-house, as it were

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I have this one and a backup just because my main is on lemmygrad and this instance tends to get defederated (rightfully) due to genocide denial amongst others things. I just thought the name sounded cool :')

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Stupid question. How is everyone managing the accounts, emails and content? How do you manage multiple profiles? (As I understand apps and tools are still lacking).

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Password manager + you can add multiple accounts in the jerboa app

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Thanks. I'll check that out. Does fediverse restrict using the same email for multiple accounts?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Not sure I haven't tried doing that I used aliases for the instances that required an email

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I have only one and i really dont want to have more accounts but i cannot access lemmy.world and many others i think it is because every lemmy instance holds its own list of lemmy instancies and each instance has to somehow be approved by target instance or is my inderstanding of this platform incorrect? Anyway i will give it some time and then i think i move to differrnt instance with more connections so i still will be using one account.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

One on Lemmy, one on kbin, so far. Trying out both, seeing how I feel about them. So far I'm more of a Mastodon user. But reddit wasn't my hangout, either.
