In the future you will own nothing and be happy about it. First they took away all the disc drives and now they are getting rid of the disks to record onto.

I am also worried about access to high-bitrate movie/show content.
Streaming services have very well encoded videos, but it's easy to tell the difference between a BD video and streaming video.
The audio is noticeably worse on streaming as well. They seem to put very little effort into improving streaming audio formats. DD+ Atmos is nice(r) but it's still based on AC-3.
I found a DAT (oh wow it’s hard not to type ‘tape’) cassette in a drawer a few days ago.
Relevance is a fleeting topic, but I feel old now.
I still have a few boxset CD-based games. Still have a working laptop from 2014 with a DVD-drive, so I can technically access these discs.
Last week I found my old boxed copy of Civilization 2 for the PC in near mint condition. But there was so much dust, I almost had an asthma attack lol.
Guessing this is the final end to physical media. Best Buy not selling anymore and Sony (owners of BD) taking steps to no longer make the discs at all. Had a feeling Dune Pt II was probably going to be my last. Hope they at least close out with Pt III, gonna really annoy me lol.
I have a feeling they'll still release major hits on BD for the next few years.
