Hi there, I have a lot of hours in rocket league and no mechanics to speak off. I want to start improving by improving the most basic "mechanics" which would be ground car and ball control. I am shocked at how bad I am at those and blame it on my age (46) and lack of talent but I think I can still improve.

Do you have any tipps, training packs, videos you would suggest?

I mainly play Twos (D1) and Ones (P1) two improve. I really like Flakes approach to focus on the game rather then on the mechanics, but as I said before I simply lack the consistent basics.

I have the workshop maps, Aim training - by Coco and Noob Dribble by DMC.

Using power drift and (basic air roll) for recoveries to keep momentum are basics that can be game changers.

Also proper boost management (don’t use boost after you hit supersonic speed, since you keep supersonic indefinitely until you steer) and wave dashes are really easy mechanic to reach supersonic speed.

Just drive around in free play, but I just play games.

What helps me is free play, just hit the ball around and try hitting it. Once you don't miss the ball anymore, you can try more complex things.

But yeah I do dribbles and flicks and stuff in free play to control the ball. Switching between ball cam and front cam works well for flicks.

Free play, also maybe you can try Lethamyr dribble pack 2. Don’t be discouraged if it takes time to clear the first level.

I'm c1 in 2s and still cannot flick, dribble, flip reset, or pretty much anything else in that domain 😂.

I would say speedflips are probably the only important mechanic imo. The rest is just game sense and not committing when not beneficial (faking until last resort).
