I get the feeling its a failed attempt to be funny by referencing the Christmas sales events that car dealerships always have.

I mean everyone's scratching their heads and not finding it funny or anything, so I'd say yeah, failed attempt.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 days ago

everyone

No, not everyone.

I guess they don’t celebrate Truck Month or the Sign Then Drive event? Losers!

[–] BreadOven 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I prefer Trarch to Trucktober.

Don't worry. That's when I got my Ferd F-teenthousand.

Okay I get that there are a lot of car sales seasons or something but I don't get the relationship between the heterosexuality and Kia. Does Kia have a reputation for being super heterosexual or something? Or against lgbt/pride movement?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 6 days ago

No it doesn’t. Kia just has a sales event that overlaps with gay month.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 week ago

instead of pride month, it's the kia summer sales event. I guess it's supposed to be a joke implying it's the only thing straight people have to celebrate this month.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 week ago

This is a very US centric joke.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I popped in to say the same.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Y’all must not be from the US, or must have really good ad blockers.

[–] AnUnusualRelic 29 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The number of people not from the US is actually surprisingly large.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm not from the US, correct, and am very happy with my ad blockers, correct. I'm still hoping I can make sense of this post eventually

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

Kia pushes a huge ad campaign every summer

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

US here, but yes really good ad blockers. Degoogled phone, ublock, ...

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Degoogled phone

is it a pixel? or is this also somehow possible with other phones?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Ironically, Google Pixels are great for degoogling. Yeah this is a Pixel 7. Also did this to a Pixel 4A5G.

Mine has CalyxOS installed, but you can also try Graphene or Lineage. Each choice will let you know the supported phones on their site.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

yeah so I'm going to need a new phone in the near future and was considering a degooglable one but it feels conflicting to buy one from google

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

Calyxos supports fairphone and some others. Dunno about the other os'

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

I hear that. Felt the same.

[–] Rustmilian 3 points 1 week ago

I have really good ad blockers then.

[–] punkcoder 6 points 1 week ago

I think it’s somebody trying to be passive, aggressive, but the fact that I have to say, I think proves the level of thought that went into it.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

Car dealership sale season

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 week ago (1 children)

As a straight man I finally feel seen.

[–] EvilEyedPanda 1 points 2 days ago

Same, and ironically I own a Kia,

[–] Reddfugee42 11 points 1 week ago (5 children)

Is there any deep meaning into why this was scribbled on instead of just cropped?

[–] [email protected] 15 points 6 days ago

I specifically included the outside and censored it because I felt the Facebook context added to it.

Just posting this meme on its own doesn't nearly have the effect if you don't know it was posted by a middle aged person.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 days ago

On some mobile Screenshot editors the scribble tool is the first to see, and apparently easier for some PPL than the crop tool,

[–] yokonzo 1 points 6 days ago

They just didn't think of it I guess

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

It adds a folksy flair.

[–] Funkytom467 5 points 1 week ago

To suggest where the meme was taken from (if it wasn't abundantly clear already...)

[–] thesporkeffect 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Sir and/or Ma'am, this is a Chevrolet household! Good DAY

[–] suction 5 points 1 week ago

Gay people don’t drive KIAs, being the joke here?

[–] Mango 1 points 1 week ago

I don't think I need any help having sex.
