I'd never heard of the narrow field pickups before. Sounds like they're in-between single coil and humbuckers.

i wonder how they compare to hofner shark fin pickups. i’m a huge fan of Jamie Hince and he uses those exclusively, but they haven’t been made for decades.

I don't know enough about the physics of these things to appreciate what these changes actually mean, sadly.
Are Fender Lace Sensor pickups narrow field? I have a Strat with those, they're nice.

Yea, when you go to the SE Guitars Page now it's basically a whole guitar company in its own right ... "strats", "les pauls", piezo hollowbody guitars, signature models and others (with the DGT and CE models looking pretty darn great).
I have an SE Custom 24-08 with stock pickups and it's great. I'd love to try out a US model.
