I'd never heard of the narrow field pickups before. Sounds like they're in-between single coil and humbuckers.
i wonder how they compare to hofner shark fin pickups. i’m a huge fan of Jamie Hince and he uses those exclusively, but they haven’t been made for decades.

Yea, P90s being kidna humbucker-fied single coils and near field being single-coil-ified humbuckers ... ?
I don't know enough about the physics of these things to appreciate what these changes actually mean, sadly.
Are Fender Lace Sensor pickups narrow field? I have a Strat with those, they're nice.
I don't think so ... but it's always hard to discern the physics from the marketing!
