Yeah it's a pretty odd product release. At least they aren't pushing some snake oil about these cables enhancing the respective pedals!
They're actually the former Rugby Atlanta team relocated. The Giltinis and Gilgronis (Austin) went through a dispersal draft and a lot of players went to Chicago.
I'm on Android so I didn't look into OP's app. I just went looking into it after this post. Apparently if you create your own developer app ID and patch an app to use yours instead, I guess your usage is too low for Reddit to bill. Something like that.
What's missing is that Pixelfed shot up in usage this week with it's official app releases on Apple and Google app stores. It at one point surpassed Facebook and Instagram in the top 10 on Apple I think. That surge was enough to reduce Mastodon's usage to under 70%. I think Pixelfed monthly active users is now like twice that of Lemmy.
I was just looking for the setting to enable text-only posts on pixelfed.social but it doesn't seem to be there. 😐
Only insofar as the instance stays online. Pixel Fed is compatible with multiple other platforms such as Mastodon, Missley, Sharkey, and Fire fish. So the global feed on Pixel Fed shows you photo posts from users of all federated instances of those other platforms, too. And they can all see posts from federated Pixelfed instances.
There are multiple open issues for Lemmy support in FediLab, I don't think it's actually supported right now.
You can't follow Mastodon users from Lemmy. You can view their profiles, but messaging them doesn't seem to work (I receive no notification of it on Mastodon) and it only shows you the comments they made on Lemmy rather than all their posts. You can @ mention Mastodon users in Lemmy posts and comments, and that works. And they can follow Lemmy communities and their replies show up in the post comments.
Ooh, snazzy. I'll give it a look.
Oh nice! So is it free because it's read only?
