“Jimmy Dore is outrageous and outraged, bothersome and bothered. A crucial, profane, passionate voice for progressives and free-thinkers in 21st century America. Jimmy will anger you if you're a conservative and enrage you if you're a liberal.”—Patton Oswalt

Haitian populist Jimmy “Barbecue” Cherizier has been building a power base in the capital of Port-au-Prince, uniting diverse gangs in an effort to create a united front of the underclass against the elites who own and run Haiti. Of course the United States opposes this, which is why Barbecue has been smeared in mainstream American media as a cannibal.

Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger talk to documentarian and investigative journalist Dan Cohen about how the U.S. is seeking to send Kenyan soldiers who participated in death squads at home to “police” the streets of Port-au-Prince and put down Cherizier’s rebellion from below.

Summary 1:

  1. Dan Cohen is an independent journalist and filmmaker based in DC who has reported from various places.
  2. Dan's latest documentary is called Haiti intervention versus Revolution.
  3. Jimmy [Cherizer] alias 'Barbecue' is a leading anti-imperialist figure in Haiti.
  4. Barbecue has tried to unite different armed groups in impoverished neighborhoods of Port-au-Prince to fight against oligarchs who are keeping them down.
  5. Dan's documentary, Another Vision, documents this process up to 2021.
  6. Barbecue is leading a coalition of militias in Haiti against the United States-installed puppets and oligarchs.
  7. They would be happy if foreign forces came to establish security and allow people to move about, or to consolidate power against the oligarchs.

Summary 2:

  1. Cherizier’s efforts to unite armed groups in Haiti against oligarchs and foreign forces represent a revolutionary process unfolding in the country
  2. The narrative of Cherizier being a cannibal has been debunked, highlighting the smear tactics used to undermine his anti-imperialist stance
  3. Father Tom Hagen’s role in supporting community projects showcases a positive impact on grassroots efforts to improve living conditions in Haiti
  4. Delays and resistance in the installation of a proxy force in Haiti indicate potential challenges for U.S. intervention in the country
  5. The possibility of American Marines intervening in Haiti could lead to a narrative shift resembling the Reagan era’s approach to foreign policy
