This weekend I'll be working to upgrade AZ to lemmy 0.19.4, which requires changes to some other back end supporting systems.

Expect occasional errors/slowdowns, broken images etc.

Once complete, I'll be making further changes to enable/tweak some of the new features.

UPDATE: one of the back end component upgrades requires dumping and reimporting the entire lemmy database. This will require ~1 hour of total downtime for the site. I expect this to kick off tonight ~9pm Perth time.

UPDATE2: DB dump/re-import going to happen ~6pm Perth time, ie about 10 minutes from this edit.

UPDATGE3: we're back after the postgres upgrade. Next will be a brief outage for the lemmy upgrade itself... after I've had dinner πŸ™‚

UPDATE34: We're on lemmy 0.19.4 now. I'll be looking at new features/settings and playing around with them.

pict-rs upgraded to 0.5... which is now performing its own backend update. No idea how long it will take... currently ~7%.

pict-rs backend update has some issues. Kept bombing out part way and restarting. Looks like I've sorted that now, so the update is progressing without stopping.
Next up will be an upgrade to postgres 16, which will require some site downtime.

pict-rs backend update is now complete. Image functionality should be pretty much normal again now.

This is an inexcusable breach of the SLA. Lodion must be offered free Timtams by all of us as recompense.

Absolutely not representative of my opinion btw. I was just riffing off of what @[email protected] said, along with what happens to be in my memory from the latest season of Jet Lag.

Personally I doubt I'd have found these two Americans' take on TimTams to be very notable, were it not for the fact that they specifically (in the aftershow podcast) called out Oreos and bloody KitKats as superior chocolate biscuits. You don't love TimTams? I get it. Tbh I actually think some of their hype is in the meme that they're popular therefore they become even more popular. But to say that KitKats are betterβ€½ That, I cannot abide.

Just a heads up that all comments show as 0 karma for me. I use connect on android. Not sure if client or widespread.

What app are you using? I've tested Boost, Sync, Jerboa, Memmy, Voyager and Connect. I can't reproduce this symptom.

Ya, not seeing this behavior in Connect on Android. Maybe sign out and sign back in again?

Tried on thunder on iPad. Seems to be less prevalent, but still seeing some posts with 0 for all comments. Tried a log out and in.

Not a big deal, still have full access and it seems to be improving, so might just be data refreshing or being re fetched.

I’m personally only seeing this issue with lemmy.world posts, and it’s happening to me on both Arctic (I think it’s iOS only?) and aussie.zone’s web page.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago

It has been happening for me also since the update on voyager.

I've been noticing since the upgrade, some images both locally and foreign don't show up when embedded in comments on my third party app (Boost). I assume this is a lack of support on Boosts part, but worth noting anyways I guess

Example from the anniversary thread in c/Australia:

(The OBJ character turns into an image once loaded, but it works fine on mobile web, but if anybody has any ideas what exactly has broken the loading, that'll make a bug report for Boost more useful)

I've seen that myself. Sync works fine, web works fine... and Boost is inconsistent, so I can only put it down to being a Boost bug... but don't haven't been able to narrow it down any further.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago

It's working on connect, so probably boost's problem

Reporting iPhone web still unable to sort by anything except β€˜hot’

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago (2 children)

I don't have an iPhone, but Firefox on my Android phone works normally. Which browser are you using?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago

Sorry I’m not sure. Whatever i8 has forced?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago

All browsers on iOS are required to be Safari/ WebKit based, so it will probably not make a difference. Updating iOS will update WebKit tho and might help.

The proxy thing seems to be working most alright, however I have noticed a couple of occasions where images aren't loading, and trying to open them in my browser results in a "429 - too many requests" error. I haven't been DoSing AZ, so I'm guessing this is an issue with the proxy exceeding Imgur rate limits?

Example comment: https://aussie.zone/comment/9455687

I did see mentioned of imgur being one site that has issues with the new feature. Will see where I can find that and look for a solution... I had assumed it would revert to previous behavior id proxy fails.. my mistake for assuming.
