I threw a tennis ball for the dog this morning, so I know what this guy feels like.

I lifted my beer glass 4 or 5 times tonight. Woooof. I feel his pain.

Hammer throw must wear out shoes in really strange ways.

Thrower spinning shoes are kinda slippery and have circular ‘traction’ lines. But yea they generally wear out pretty quick

The water definitely increased the coolness as well

What a weird sport. It's crazy that there was so much resistance to adding skateboarding in 2020 while this has remained a staple.

I don't mean that disparagingly at all. It's just a weird tradition

Judging a skateboarder’s performance has too many variables. Throw big rock far is an easy contest to measure and watch.

Judging a figure skater's performance has just as many variables! There are other more direct examples but the "controversy" around skateboarding came to mind first

All Olympic events that require arbitrary judging should be replaced with Chess.

Honestly I've always held the belief (not strongly, mind you) that competitions with judges doing the scoring aren't really "sports" since you're at the mercy of opinion, not game rules. My personal definition isn't universal and is of course based on nothing.

Chess-and-then-dancing (I feel boxing is too much).

This is very much not what I envisioned a throwing hammer to look like. Did the definition of the word change over time, or the shape of the object change, or is this some kind of training 'hammer'?

Pfft that wasn't even a hammer he yeeted, it was just a ball, which was MADE for flying through the air. That's not even that impressive.
