From 2nd in SQ to 18th in quali. Wew, Hamilton.

Perez made it into Q2 by the skin of his teeth.

Also surprised to see Yuki go out in Q1.

Classic merc in this reg....still no idea what they are doing with the aero of the car. Solid 7/8 place just as at start...

Sainz vs gravel saga continues.

Smooth Operator more like Lucky Operator.

Not sure what to think about Sainz being able to continue without being punished for causing a red flag and ruining other driver’s laps.

In general I feel like causing a red flag should be punished if it is clearly the fault of the driver.

As much as I wish it was this I think it might be just as much “poor form yuki”

Yeah Yuki struggles at tracks which are new for him. I think that is one of his major weaknesses. If one needs proof, look at his results in 2021 - all his best drives came on tracks he had driven as part of his f2 campaign

I wounder how much its also experience, yuki never drove in china in f1? (Dont remember) But the experience gap probably helps Ricardo adopt...doubt its gonna save him or move him to rb though...we shall see next race but with all the rumors going around, if race goes poorly we might see lawson in next gp...

Seems there could be a few surprises today, as track conditions are still green/varied, and not all teams are super comfortable they've nailed the setup.
