Discussion about Christianity by Christians and those who are curious.

Rule #1. Anti-Christian and anti-Bible statements will not be tolerated. Constructive criticism of Christianity is OK, however.

Rule #1.1. The measure for what is considered Christian, as has been the case in the faith since the earliest days, will be the faith proclaimed in the Nicene Creed.

Good for them, there needs to be a stronger pushback against the growing tendency to coopt the Christian faith for the purposes of a political agenda. It's all too prevalent at every level already.

Yes, there are actually a very large number of christian leftists. Society sees more of the loud minority and one of our political parties have embraced that same anti-real-jesus, pro-supply-side-jesus stance so actual christians that try to live like christ get pushed out of the picture.

regularly turns into the no-true-scottsman mess so it's not talked about as much either

Modern-day Pharisees get all the attention. People quietly striving to follow the teachings of that guy from Galilee, not so much.

When Christians seek power, it always goes badly. Jesus specifically warned his apostles about it several times, yet the Church still refuses to listen.

when anyone seeks power it goes badly

Fair point. But Christianity in particular is about giving up power for the benefit of those in need. It's kind of Jesus' whole deal.

Absolutely.
