Damn, didn't think there was a protestant left in the US. Nice to know I'm wrong.
Yes, there are actually a very large number of christian leftists. Society sees more of the loud minority and one of our political parties have embraced that same anti-real-jesus, pro-supply-side-jesus stance so actual christians that try to live like christ get pushed out of the picture.
regularly turns into the no-true-scottsman mess so it's not talked about as much either
Modern-day Pharisees get all the attention. People quietly striving to follow the teachings of that guy from Galilee, not so much.
The general perception of Christianity is quite disproportionate
