I'm in Portland, and while we voted for this our local government did not provide the requisite opportunities for care and treatment. The rollback of this bill reintroduces facilities for care and treatment.

Not going to get into what is right or wrong, but please understand that this first attempt was implemented poorly and needed to be adjusted in some manner.

Why not just reintroduce the facilities for care and treatment without the crime attachment?

Fucking scumbag. People passed a harm reduction measure and corporate interests scrambled to reintroduce the penalty as quickly as they could.

I know you are angry. The headline is sheer click bait and trauma theater. Read a little into what is the ACTUAL legislation, you will see it is, while not good, a slightly better alternative to what was submitted. WHich that was a joke and had no chance anyway. At least with this, people in need will have something. Also x2, I am for decriminalization but the way it was introduced first was a dumb hippy fantasy.

A dumb hippy fantasy... like universal healthcare.

UHC is a literal, undeniable human right. However, in America, the abstract concept is ruled by politics. And everything the Demos have done is capitulate to the Reds because their own ideas are exactly that: dumb hippy fantasies. Like everything else they propose. My country is ruled by half wits and imcompetence. We're #1!

Won't police just "plant" drugs in people's cars and houses as an excuse to arrest them? Police do all sorts of shady shit. The less police are involved, the better.
