In germany it's not even legal to honk your horn if it's not an emergency. Way better that way. Reduces unnecessary noise. That stuff is loud.

That's such a German answer LMAO. It isn't legal in eastern Europe either but we still do it. We decide when it is appropriate and when it isn't.

It was something I had to get used to in Colombia. They honk for everything. Even when crossing a road. It's to make sure anyone who can't see you can at least maybe hear you and it might prevent an accident. At least that's what my friends tell me.

Same with Egypt, one place that I was happy to leave the driving to someone else. The amount and nuance of honks, especially on 6+ lane highways, often lacking any distinguishing lane markings, was impressive.

How do you know it was 6 lanes?

My best guess based on the amount of cars that were on either side of us at any given time, and the overall width of the highway based on ones in other countries.

Why TF does anyone think it's okay to use the horn, when it's not an emergency (to avoid an accident)? And if it IS to avoid accidents; how bad are people at driving those places?

I hate visiting countries, where people uses the horn for every bit of communication. Fx, I can't fall asleep when visiting Turkey.

Why is Germany not red? People are using the horn there much more than in Italy I'd say.

I guess more than Italy doesn't imply that it's common/acceptable in general
