Community rules (click to expand)

1. Follow the site-wide rules

2. Be civil
  • Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
  • Do not harrass or attack members of the community for any reason.
  • Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
  • Bigotry will not be tolerated.
  • These rules are somewhat loosened when the subject is a public figure. Still, do not attack their person or incite harrassment.
  • 3. Post Linux-related content
  • Including Unix and BSD.
  • Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of sudo in Windows.
  • No porn. Even if you watch it on a Linux machine.
  • 4. No recent reposts
  • Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.

Important: never execute code or follow advice that you don't understand or can't verify, especially here. The word of the day is credibility. This is a meme community -- even the most helpful comments might just be shitposts that can damage your system. Be aware, be smart, don't fork-bomb your computer.

You must be on Debian as your memes haven't been updated since 2017

I've seen more memes about Arch than people talking about Arch

    [–] Moshpirit 2 points 8 months ago

Memes don't have to be true.

    PS: I use Arch, BTW

I've gotta say: My experience using Arch and its derivatives has really made sympathize with vegans. How in the world are you even supposed to respond when a total stranger just walks up to you out of nowhere to tell you that people who do the thing they don't know you do will never shut up about it. Like, seriously. What is even the appropriate response in that situation?

    [–] Arbiter 38 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Well, you did start your comment telling us you use Arch.

    I also use arch btw

[–] [email protected] 4 points 8 months ago

I'm guessing this is probably a joke? I can't actually tell over the internet. Either way I hate you for doing exactly what makes this whole situation impossible though.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Hmm? 🙊I read this about 5 times and did not really understand.. But, I use Arch btw. (And openSuse TW)

    [–] youngGoku 4 points 8 months ago

Haha, I had to read it 3 times to figure out what the heck he was saying.

    [–] youngGoku 5 points 8 months ago

I had to read this 3 times to figure out your angle.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 months ago

how do you recognize a non-vegan?

don't worry, they'll ask "how do you recognize a vegan?"

[–] [email protected] 20 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Why are there so many urinals? Just install the urinals you need, frankly we could probably share the same urinal dependency... I also run arch btw...

    [–] jerrythegenius 8 points 8 months ago

Ah so you want a minimal setup?

[–] [email protected] 19 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (1 children)

"that's pretty big. Need help holding it?"

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago

That's a good and relatable Arch Linux meme.

What's so special/annoying/good/bad/different about arch anyway? Honestly I'm 100% out out the loop here..

    [–] squid_slime 10 points 8 months ago

Arch is developed under the keep it simple stupid design philosophy. It also has one of the most extensive linux manuals, a die hard user base, I use arch btw. And arch is often ahead of other distros with updates as the aur (arch user repository) is managed by users

    [–] pizzawithdirt 7 points 8 months ago

Honestly, it's really not that special. Only reason I would ever use Arch is the AUR (which nixpkgs are a lot bigger than) and its absolutely great wiki (which you can use as a guide no matter your distro.). The reason there is a really small elitist community among the Arch Linux users is the knowledge you need to know to install it, and its illusion of minimalism.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 8 months ago

Once upon a time, it was rightly a hard distro for people who wanted to customize everything. So only professional users used it and it became some sort of meme that skrip kiddiz would use arch to show off like they're a pro

Those days are long gone, Arch has become a mainstream and relatively easy distro

[–] [email protected] 4 points 8 months ago

    No bloat like

    • graphical file manager
    • app store
    • settings app
