David Carson was not the most accomplished feature film director. He only directed one minor film before Generations, so maybe he wasn't the best choice... but he did direct four episodes of TNG- including Yesterday's Enterprise- and four episodes of DS9 before filming Generations, so I think he had a pretty good understanding of what makes a Star Trek movie.

Maybe Bill is just not the actor he thinks he is.

Sad. I thought the joke was that Mr Shatner was also the director of that one. That would have been a funny self-own that shows self-awareness

We all know what happens when The Shatt directs.

This weirdly helps his argument that having the right director makes a huge difference...

Shatner has no self-awareness. Did you ever hear the "sabotage" outtake from TOS?

You come in here with your link, trying to sabotăj my comment, when all I want to do is chew the scenery?

No, jk, I get it. I’ve met the man and while he isn’t the worst, it’s clear he is awfully self absorbed.

He has his good points- he apparently works a lot with animal (specifically horse) charities- but yeah, he really has a massive ego.

Often true, but that doesn't mean they don't need to be rescued from bad situations. Rich people can abuse and neglect their pets, as can breeders.

A Tibetan mastiff dog can cost thousands. If you found out there was an abusive Tibetan mastiff puppy mill and someone rich helped with a charity that rescued those dogs, I assume you would be in favor of that.

That time William Shatner was an ass to Will Weaton and Gene Roddenberry put Shatner in his place.

I did a bit of googling to see if I could find a written version of this so I didn’t have to listen to Wil Wheaton who I find grating but couldn’t find anything but people discussing. Is a tl;dw asking too much or would it detract too much from the story?

[–] Squizzy 4 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I dont mind him but it is too long I am not interested enough for a story that length.

Yeah, 24 minutes is a big ask.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 6 months ago

I could be spending that 24 minutes counting grains of sand instead.

Oooh, that's his Canadian showing.

"Pasta." "Salsa for the nachos." "Nazis." All with that short "a as in cat" sound.

He was probably pretty pissed that he slipped and got called on it. Any actor working for a US market would know how odd it would sound south of the boarder.
