Of course the human's pissed off... with a single eye the alien evidently lacks depth perception, and will miss the ball most of the time. It'll be a very boring game.

Yeh but they might have other means of locating space, direction, and speed. Echolocation maybe? Something photon, but not eye, related? An ability to watch from the fifth dimension?

Seems more like it's playing on that.

The guy is excited to be served, as we would assume it's a Simpson reference and the alien is going to cook for them, instead they got served in sport, a meta subversion of our expectation of the joke.

Also TIL that it's originally a short story from 1950 that was later adapted for the Twilight Zone episode.
