Does it have a Stargate? Does it make whooshy sounds? Sounds like Stargate to me

Technical terms. <3

Spinning is cooler than not spinning!

Still annoys me that universe only found it's stride in the last few episodes when the decision to cancel them had already been made. They introduce a species more powerful in the physical realm than the ancients - beings that can assemble a solar system - and then the show ends. They spent way too long trying to be BSG lite.

Critiquing is still technically discussion! :D

so about that Ambassador Londo Mollari …

He spins, especially facts, a lot.

I'm not sure if he makes whooshy sounds though... his action figure might be lacking that feature, no matter how... detailed it was made in other respects.

He must whoosh when he swaggered around the station. Look at that coat, it would be a loss if it didn't.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

Oh, you reminded me that's there's a ton of thoughts that whoosh by right over his head, so there, I guess we can say that he whooshes after all! :-P

Hell, even Star Gate Catherine is allowed here.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

I guess that means we’re letting in Stargate Origins and Infinity.

I like Atlantis from start to finish more than I like SG-1 from start to finish. Come at me.

No one cares? It's Stargate. All of it is good.

Except that Infinity bullshit. Nothing good came from that abomination.

I don't think it's fair to judge all of SG-1 as a single thing. There's a definite shift after Apophis' first death, then again when Anubis becomes the BBEG, and the Ori arc might as well be a different spin-off series. To me, it's Apophis-1, Atlantis, Ori, Apophis-2, Universe, and Anubis. But start to finish, I prefer Atlantis over SG-1 just because they didn't introduce a bigger, badder, eviler guy every few seasons.

Should Stargate Universe really count though?

It does. It was jarring back when it aired, but if you go in without any expectations, it's not so bad. It was also getting better in S2 and in its second half it got real good.

I felt nothing when it got cancelled, because I didn't make it too far into S2. When I actually finished it years later I was really sad it ended.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 11 months ago

Season 2 was so good near the end. I was so sad when it got canceled, but yeah season 1 was rough, just didn't fit the usual stargate vibe.

I love Universe. I rewatch it pretty much every time I rewatch Atlantis. I don't rewatch SG-1 all that much, it carries the early seasons' campiness a little too much for my taste.

SG-1 is fantastic and all, but I think we can all agree Universe is light-years ahead of the others.
