Don't think this is really onion-y. It was found at one of the tables where visitors put their belongings when going through security. I'm honestly shocked this doesn't happen more often. TSA deals with dropped drugs on a daily basis. Hell there are containers in some airports specifically to throw away your illegal items.

I wouldn't be stunned if illicit substances have perennially been in the White House for a century or more. It's a hostile, high-stress work environment. Of course people are going to medicate.
I’m sure that staffer is both A: pissed and B: terrified about the investigation.
And of course Tom Cotton immediately climbs down into the Fox cesspool to complain that White House security needs to be thoroughly investigated. Sure, let's do more useless investigations rather than actually getting anything useful done.
