coming from the self-proclaimed "free-speech absolutist"

Well, the fine print on the FREEZED PEACH types is: "offer only good for cons."

It’s Twitter. Just say no to X

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago

Yeah, I am not going to bother learning its new name. I’m not calling it x to anyone. If anyone calls it x to me in real life I’m going to pretend I don’t know what they are talking about.

Generally commendable advice to say no to exes

I cringe to even think of what passes for a Trust & Safety group over there now, and the kind of people they must have staffing it. They don’t have reasons for what they’re doing or even clear knowledge of what they’re doing. It’s a case of amateur jackass thinks he can run the forum better and just happens to have billions of disposable dollars allowing him to pretend he is. It seems almost inevitable given how many rich and powerful people are obsessed with Twitter that eventually one of them would want to just buy it and crown themselves admin as a power fantasy. That’s literally all that happened here.

What were they even doing on a Nazi platform? Are they going to move to Truth Social now?

Journalism.

No explanation required. The plan was always to obscure, censor, and otherwise dismantle Twitter. Musk has a team of professional money making C level executives that flank him constantly no matter where he goes and he's not the sole vote on any of the Boards that he sits on, yet he's still allowed to be the CEO of a bunch of companies, only one of which is being blatantly mismanaged into the ground. Saudi gave him $22B to buy Twitter. Twitter is tanking and hemorraging money. You'd think the Saudis would have done more due diligence and/or be livid and demanding their money back from the guy that can absolutely pay them back out of his own wealth. Truth is, they're not doing that because what's happening at Twitter is exactly what they wanted (Arab Spring was largely coordinated via twitter).

So? For 40 years X has been what you click on when you DON'T want to see something. Why would anyone go there?

90s... 2000s... 2010s... 2020s...

Oh my God it has been 40 years and I'm so old! When did I get old! Why did no one warn me!

Maybe Elon did it during a drug binge and just forgot about who he banned the next day.

Xitter is a Nazi hang out, taken over by a sympathizer. No explanation needed.

It will always be Twitter, and most of the accounts affected have been reinstated
