Consider that we're trending away from poop memes. It's not good but it's a step in the right direction.

I remember when I was on r/memes, and the "Always has been" meme appeared a lot of times in a single day. This will be over soon, and then a new cycle will begin again.
I think this is a result of a smaller community too. Memes turn over and appear faster, word spreads quickly.
In the same vein, the smaller community produces fewer posts meaning there’s fewer competing for visibility and less post competition overall.
Heck, it feels like we only just left the time when "don't poop for 3 days" wa sthe dead horse of lemmy memes.
I just blocked the shitpost community and haven't spotted anything since.
It hopefully won't be too long before the next thing gets big. I think you could just sit it out and see what tomorrow brings...
U can take the redditor out of reddit, but u cant take the reddit out of redditors
No but really i think is just a human thing. Like when someone makes a popular song and then many people try to make a similar one. Or someone does their hair one way and many try to copy. Or even in real life, there are some jokes that are old but are known now because they got repeated a lot. Even the figure of speech i use there, is repeated over time. So im just teasing a bit, i know it's not only a reddit thing lol (but did happen on reddit a lot! This repitition does remind me a bit of those reddit comments like "and my axe!" "I also choose this guy's wife" "narrator: it did not" "sir this is a wendy's" "instructions unclear: ____" etc. but hopefully wont be as drawn out.)
Even in 2023 we still got comments like those. ‘Reddit comedians’ they’re called
All it did for me was cause me to block the community. Haven’t seen beans in 24 hours.
Luckily each instance has its own feel. The one i am in now doesn't have that meme. But everytime i go to all i get spammed by beans from lemmy world lol. That said, like every meme it's gonna die, just give it to the end of the week lol.
I have legit dropped a couple of communities just to make the relentless spam stop.
