Writing essays is supposed to demonstrate mastery of a subject while also giving the student a deeper understanding of the subject.

What it actually teaches most students is how to write essays, and it usually teaches them to write bad essays.

How to express a thought in as many words as possible.

It's often harder to do it in less words. In my ethics course we had to summarize each chapter on a single page.

It's hard to cram a good summary into one page.

As a professional doctor science man, this is indeed un-advisable and would lead to so many bad habits and mental issues later. Not to mention that, while this might by chance get you into grad school, it is less likely to grant you a title or a livable job anywhere. I've met a couple of cases, we would advice them that they should get diagnosed and medicated. One such case was a study mate for 5 years, he already had been 5 years there before I met him. It was public uni so he was free to try as much as he wanted for a title as long as he was above a certain minimum performance. He consistently wasn't good enough to graduate but also wasn't bad enough to get kicked out. Another one did get diagnosed and medicated and immediately realized he hated university and was only doing it for their parents who weren't supportive at all. Dropped out, got into music and now is happy as can be playing bars in Europe.

Ok but what's the "don't stop me now" writing method?

Some other ADHD-addled Tumblr user would play "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen on repeat while they wrote essays, forcing themselves to finish the paper before they could turn off the song. It worked surprisingly well, except they also conditioned their brain to go into panic-fueled-essay-mode whenever they heard the song in any context

Ah so similar to how when I was first leaning C++ I listened to spirit phone a lot, and now whenever I hear cabinet man I get the sudden urge to commit crimes against memory safety.

Yeah, though I would've expected Touch-Tone Telephone to be the primary trigger

This is why I want Tumblr to join the Fediverse lol

I used to do something similar. I would just stay up really late. Eventually the part of myself that hates myself would fall asleep, and the rest of me would write the essay.

I would just stay up all night and get drunk. I also went on to grad skoo, but then I dropped out because it actually took effort.

I think this is the plot of Hard Boiled Wonderland
