Omfg! This is the best thing to happen to fediverse for people like me who were addicted to old.reddit

this made me realize one of the things I like about the old design is how many posts you can see at a glance.

Works pretty well, too. It kinda messes with my head. I entered the instance, and thought for a second I just got redirected to reddit somehow.

Are there any plans to add keyboard navigation like old.reddit.com + RES?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

I hope so, I'd suggest to open an issue in github

Can someone please eli5 why so many people are obsessed with the old reddit look and feel? It looks awful and very uncomfortable to use

It was ugly but functional (well, functional with the RES browser plugin, I mean).

I have yet to see a desktop Lemmy UI today uses the full width of my browser window. That alone makes them very annoying to use.

I've been using this script to make things significantly better on the default Lemmy UI.

@DeriHunter @liaizon Its information-dense. Here's what mlmym+my home lemmy instance looks like:
(on desktop mind). Entries are packed right in there, I don't have to scroooooolllll as much.

edit; changed image.

@DeriHunter @liaizon Here's the same in the native Lemmy UI. Look at all that wasted space.

@DeriHunter @liaizon Lastly, here's the new Reddit UI - same desktop resolution, same snip size, full height top to bottom w/o the window chrome/bars:

@DeriHunter @liaizon Yeah the new Reddit UI may look nicer but I have to scroll for miles.

@tezoatlipoca @DeriHunter this thread was great its nice to be reminded of what we are losing when we do these new fangled redesigns

@liaizon @lemmy that’s pretty cool!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck yes

What a time to be alive!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

My god, what a weird experience that was.

I’ve been using old.reddit over the last couple of days to manage my bot as it shreds my old account histories, so to look at that interface without feeling sad is very unnerving.

Looks awesome, this might be my new go-to means of browsing Lemmy. I was using a userstyle to make Lemmy more like old reddit, but this is a literal almost 1-to-1 replica of the UI I've enjoyed for so long and it feels pretty much completely functional.

I'd like it to let you choose your preferred comment sort method though, so I could pick sort by top as default like reddit did.

How do I make this work for lemmy.world? I replaced lemmy.ml with lemmy.world and it loads, but there's no content. I can click on the headings at the top, but Local, and Subscribed won't populate. I know it should work with lemmy.world because that was used in the example shot on the github.

@TheDragonHeartedBard I was logged in to my account thru this app. so try that
