Honestly I just think it's hilarious that even left wing americans still get portrayed with the sunglasses in polandball.
One of the most heart warming uses of the shades I think was Kraut in his US Mexico series, he capped it off with a talk about how both sides of the border debate in the US don't truly cut to the core issue of why Mexico, and really Latin America writ large, has such a steady flow towards the border. To illustrate how America could be doing better to support her neighbors, he shows Mexico and America ball in a boat fishing, and America actually lifts the shades to happily ask Mexico, "wanna try friend?"
